Video: The Moment Singapore Crane Collapses

This incident occurred in Singapore, on the 4th November, whereby there was a crane fell located at Novena construction site, resulting one death and one person suffered injury. As you can see the crane tower has been twisted in whirl shape.

The construction site is a future new rehab facility by Tan Tock Seng Hospital. A call for help has been received from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) around 8:50a.m. Unfortunately, one Indian worker has been declared death on the spot by the paramedics. For another worker, has said to be sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, said by the local police

Police commenced to investigate closely for this tragic incident. Upon arrival at the scene, witnesses had see that the crane tower has been bent into whirl shape after it collapsed.

The Ministry of Manpower spokesperson stated that failure of lifting operation has been occurred from the jib of a tower crane, as result killing a 28 year old Indian and caused injury to a 35 year old Bangladeshi at the construction site.

A jib is an operating horizontal arm that enable to prolong or extend from the crane.

Work on Hold at The Site

Works had been called on hold for investigation. The parties involved in this investigation are included the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Manpower and the contractor.

Meanwhile, the ministry stated that it was liaise with the occupier, Kajima Overseas Asia (Singapore) to assist the deceased family and the injured fellow worker.

The construction site is the location of a new Integrated Care Hub under Tan Tock Seng Hospital, which said to be opened in the year of 2022. The facility comprises 17 storey development which enable to house 500-bed rehabilitative facility. It has 17 hectare area, named to be the largest healthcare complex in Singapore.

Incident happened has arises concern on the improvement of rules and regulations in the work safety environment to avoid hazardous situation. Every employer has to take a considerable amount of care to ensure safety of every worker.
